Wir verwenden das present perfect progressive, wenn eine Handlung in der Vergangenheit begann und sich bis jetzt erstreckt. Dabei werden besonders die Dauer, bzw. der Ablauf des Vorgangs hervorgehoben.

I have been living here since 1989.
After he has been waiting for her for hours he was really angry.

In the park

Put in the correct forms of the present perfect progressive!

Take a look at the man: He has been sitting (sit) on the bench for a long time. His beard has grown (grow) longer and longer. The flowers have been drying (dry up). A spider has been weaving (weave) a net.
"Has she been shopping (shop) all the time?"
"What have you been doing (you, do)?"
"I have been waiting (wait) for ages!"
"Why the hell has he been wating (he, wait) there?
I've been waiting (wait) here for ages, too. At the other end of the park!!!"

Tip!
It's easier to form the progressive instead of looking for the irregular forms.

since or for?

Put in the present perfect and since or for to complete the following sentences.

a.  I have been seeing|'ve been seeing (see) him for(???) a year now.
b.  I have been studying|'ve been studying (study) English I since(???)was ten.
c.  The teacher has been talking (talk) about grammar for(???) an hour.
d.  Peter has been showing (show) off his new bike since(???) he came.
e. The sun has been shining(shine) for(???) more than 3 weeks.
