Useful phrases

In a simulated situation you can use simple statements like "This is good!". Instead of saying only simple sentences like that, you can improve your style by using the following phrases:

making suggestions

"How about going to the cinema?"

"Why don’t we have a meal in that new restaurant?"

"We could stay in and watch a video."

Couldn't we ...'

"Let’s invite some friends round for dinner."

I think it would be a good idea to go to a … because

In my opinion you / we should.... because

If you give a reason for your suggestion, it will be even better!

asking for suggestions

Sometimes is good not to start but to ask your partner of his or her opinion. It's more polite.

"What would you like to do?"

"What shall we do tonight?"

"Where shall we go tonight?"

What do you think of this idea?

asking for opinions

"What do you think about that?"

"Do you agree?"

"How do you feel about that?"

"And what do you think about my suggestions?"

Would you also like to do that?

Don't say just "yes" or "no", use more phrases for Agreeing and Disagreeing.

reasoning

You can't always find the one and only solution. So you have to balance your arguments to decide on a compromise.

On the one hand I think that... but on the other hand ...

Besides / in addition

We shouldn't forget that...'

So shall we do /buy /.... ?

I guess...would be (the) best because ...

We have decided to ...
